Frequently asked questions about the training.
What is the cost of the training?
Since the training is billed per day of instruction and per flight, the cost depends on your learning speed.
For a student with no prior experience in free flight, the cost is between 3500 and 4500.
Someone who already has some flying experience (a paraglider pilot, for example) will generally learn faster.
Takeoff?
Simply take the wing over your shoulders and run down a slope until it has enough speed to fly. These movements are practiced on a training slope (a small slope where you will perform mini-flights of a few meters) until you are comfortable for a real takeoff and longer flight.
Piloting?
Le pilotage du delta est unique, il se fait par le déplacement du poids du corps sous l'aile.
Nous pouvons donc contrôler la profondeur "tangage" et effectuer de grosses prises de vitesse.
Landing?
For landing, we perform a turn like airplanes, during which we adjust our seat and take our feet out of the harness. On final approach (the last phase of the turn), we glide until we almost touch the ground; at that point, we slow down while flying along the side of the field, and then, as we reach minimum speed, we sharply pitch up to come to a stop.
Speed range?
From 25 km/h to over 100 km/h, depending on the delta model
How long is the training?
On average, one season.
Price of the equipment?
A new wing costs around CHF 5,000.- But there are some very good deals starting from CHF 2,000.-
The harness and parachute will cost approximately 1,700 Swiss francs.
The weight of a wing?
The wings have different weights depending on the type and size. The wings used by the school weigh 22 kg.
Transportation ?
The wings fold down to 4m and are easily transportable on the roof of a car. All you need is a ski rack and a ladder to place the wing on it.
Some installations such as the Vercorin cable car (Crêt-du-Midi), the Rochers-de-Nayes train or the Egieshorn cable car (Fiesch) easily transport the wings to take-off.
Can I do a one-day training course "just to try it out"?
Of course! But it's best to do a two-seater first, because you'll get a better feel for the experience and you'll also be able to pilot.
How do I register for a training day?
On the page Register for an introductory day .
